MEET THE
MUSHROOMS

These are the teachers. Each one ancient, each one distinct, each one in relationship with human bodies long before science had the language to explain why. This is where that story begins.

The Mountain Priest Mushroom

Lion's Mane

Lion's Mane grows in cascading dream-like tendrils from the sides of hardwood trees, often appearing more like an other-worldly sea creature than a mushroom. Ancient, ethereal, and unmistakable. For centuries, Buddhist monks in the mountains of Japan depended on it for long days of contemplative study. They reached for Yamabushitake because they understood something about the mind that we're only beginning to uncover: optimal cognition is cultivated internally, not stimulated externally. Lion's Mane teaches that true productivity doesn't come when we're jolted into focus. Steady shifts into heightened clarity put us into our sharpest state of flow.

Lion's Mane supports:

Healthy cognitive function
Memory & recall
Focus & sustained attention
Healthy nerve & neurological function

Lion’s Mane produces naturally occurring families of compounds known as hericenones and erinacines. Certain members of these families have been studied for their potential interactions with pathways involving nerve growth factor, a protein involved in the growth, survival, and maintenance of certain nerve cells. This is focus cultivated from the inside, not a stimulant from the outside. The results build quietly, layer by layer, the way real learning does.

The Mushroom of Immortality

REISHI

Reishi grows as a magnificent, spiraling shelf on dying hardwoods. Its surface is so lacquered it looks varnished by hand, while its offshoots stretch like mighty antlers. Ancient, elegant, and unmistakable. Reishi was a fixture of ritual and lore for more than two thousand years across East Asia. So prized that emperors sent out search parties to hoard it, and the oldest texts named it "the mushroom of immortality." Ancient people reached for Lingzhi because they never forgot the lesson that nature offers: we're at our most powerful when in balance. Reishi teaches that the body knows how to find ease, that rest is not something you earn but something you remember how to do.

Reishi supports:

Restful sleep
Calm & relaxation
A balanced stress response
Healthy immune function

Reishi has been valued for centuries as an adaptogen. It's rich in beta-glucans and triterpenoids. Beta-glucans interact with receptors on immune cells, part of how the body maintains healthy immune function, while triterpenoids are studied for supporting a calm, balanced stress response and restful sleep. Reishi works slowly, the way evening comes on.

The High-Altitude Performance Mushroom

CORDYCEPS

Cordyceps grows in slender, bright orange horns, fingers reaching up out of the ground as if the soil itself were pointing skyward. Ancient, fiery, and unmistakable. For centuries, communities in the high Himalaya prized cordyceps and carried it up the mountain to support their stamina at altitude. They understood what modern humans have forgotten: that nature offers us the adaptive capacity to thrive in the conditions of our own ecosystem. Cordyceps teaches that there is potential already living inside the intelligence of our bodies. The energy to reach our highest heights doesn't need to be outsourced, only activated.

Cordyceps supports:

Energy & stamina
Physical endurance
Aerobic capacity
Post-exercise recovery

Cordycepin, one of the signature compounds of Cordyceps militaris, has been studied for its interactions with pathways involved in cellular energy metabolism. This is the steadier kind of energy, the sort without a caffeine spike: more of the most vital you, for longer. It shows up for the long climb rather than just the first burst, the way real resilience does.
