About Forgotten
What is Forgotten?
Forgotten, full name Forgotten Mushrooms, is a functional mushroom company. We make Lion's Mane for focus, Reishi for rest, and Cordyceps for energy†, as tinctures, gummies, and a Lion's Mane syrup, all whole fungi, dual extracted, and third-party tested, bottled in small batches in Chicago, IL.
What does Forgotten make?
Seven products across three mushrooms and three formats. Lion's Mane, Reishi, and Cordyceps come as tinctures and gummies, and Lion's Mane also comes as a syrup you stir into coffee or favorite beverage. Every one carries 777mg per dose, fruiting body and mycelium extract.
What does 777mg mean?
777mg is the amount of active mushroom extract in every dose: 500mg fruiting body extract and 277mg mycelium extract.
Where are Forgotten products made?
They are grown and made in North America (USA and Canada), finished in small batches in Chicago, IL. We work closely with our growers and extractors rather than buying anonymous bulk powder.
About the mushrooms
What are functional mushrooms?
Functional mushrooms are edible mushrooms taken for the way they support everyday functions like focus, rest, and energy†, rather than for nutrition alone. Lion's Mane, Reishi, and Cordyceps are three of the most studied, and they are not psychedelic.
What does Lion's Mane do?
Lion's Mane supports focus, memory, and mental clarity†. It is the mushroom with the most cognitive research behind it, and it is not a stimulant, so it supports a clear head rather than a jolt.
How we make it
How is Forgotten tested, and can I see the results?
Every batch is third-party tested by the Megazyme enzymatic assay for beta-glucans, and we publish a certificate of analysis for it. Open the COA link on any product page. We keep those current, so you're always seeing the latest batch we've tested, right down to the beta-glucan number measured by the Megazyme assay. No need to match a batch number off your box. The COA on the page is the live one. If we ever can't show you that, hold us to the same standard as everyone else.
Why do some mushroom supplements list higher milligrams than Forgotten?
A bigger milligram number does not always mean more active mushroom. Many mushroom supplement products list the total weight of mycelium grown on grain, and most of that weight is the grain itself, starch that was never measured for the compounds that do the work. What actually matters is the active compounds: the beta-glucans the research points to. Every Forgotten dose is 777mg, 500mg fruiting body extract and 277mg mycelium extract, dual extracted and third-party tested, with a certificate of analysis published for every batch. The honest comparison is not whose number is biggest, but whose number is measured, and we publish ours.
Why does it matter that Forgotten is made in the North America?
Because where a mushroom is grown and how it is handled shapes what ends up in the bottle. Many mushroom supplement products are built from bulk mushroom material grown and processed overseas, then repackaged here, with little visibility into how it was grown or whether it was ever tested. Ours is grown in North America (USA and Canada) and finished in small batches in Chicago, IL, so the chain stays traceable from substrate to bottle, rather than putting our name on anonymous powder.
Why do third-party lab results matter for mushroom supplements?
Because the FDA does not test or approve supplements before they are sold, so purity is something each brand has to prove, not something anyone checks for you. Mushrooms absorb what surrounds them as they grow, and wild-harvested material in particular can carry heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and cadmium drawn up from the soil. That is why we grow cultivated mushrooms rather than wild-foraged ones, and publish a current certificate of analysis for every batch. The simplest way to vet any brand, including us, is to ask for current per-batch lab results. If they cannot show them, that is your answer.
Why does Forgotten cost more?
You are paying for the part most brands leave out, which is measured, verified active mushroom. We grow it, dual extract it, and use liposomal delivery, combining the actives with a phospholipid complex to support stability and absorption†, and we third-party test every batch with a certificate of analysis you can read. None of that is the cheapest way to make a mushroom supplement. The price reflects what is actually in the bottle, measured and published, rather than a bigger number printed on the label.
What does "ultrasonic liposomal" mean?
After we dual-extract the mushrooms, we combine the extract with purified phospholipids and run it through controlled ultrasonic energy. The ultrasound breaks the phospholipids into smaller, more uniform vesicles that hold the extract evenly through the liquid. It's a formulation step we use for stability and to support absorption†.
Using the products
How much should I take, and how do I take it?
One dose a day. Tinctures are 2mL (two pumps) held under the tongue or stirred into a drink, gummies are one gummy, and the syrup is one serving in coffee or any drink. Take your dose daily for 25 consecutive days, then take five days off before beginning the next cycle. Dr. Paziotopoulos recommends this structured approach, a consistent period of use followed by a brief pause, which gives you a clear window to notice how your body responds both while taking it and during the break. Each product holds about a month's supply.
Tincture, gummy, or syrup: which should I choose?
They all deliver the same 777mg per dose, so the difference is ritual. The tincture goes under the tongue or into a drink, the gummy is grab-and-go with no measuring, and the Lion's Mane syrup is made to stir into coffee or your favorite drink.
Are the gummies sugar-free?
Yes. They are sweetened with stevia leaf extract and set with pectin and prebiotic fiber, with no cane sugar and no corn syrup.
Are the tinctures alcohol-free?
Yes. They are carried in organic vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol, no sugar, and no added fillers.
What is Lion's Mane Elixir, and can I put it in coffee?
Lion's Mane Elixir is a mushroom syrup made to stir into coffee, a latte, or your favorite drink. It is nearly flavorless, and slightly sweet, so it blends in without changing the taste, hot or iced, and a few pumps also turn an evening mocktail into a clear-headed, alcohol-free pour.
How long until I notice anything?
Many people notice a subtle shift within the first week and a clearer, more consistent difference by around the first month. Functional mushrooms work gradually, and the benefits keep building the longer you stay with them.
How does the subscription work?
Subscribe on any product to save 15 percent, shipped on a schedule so you never miss a day, and cancel anytime. A one-time purchase is always available too.
Safety
Will these make me feel high or hallucinate?
No. These are functional mushrooms with no psilocybin and no perception-altering effect. You get the support each mushroom is known for, with nothing psychoactive.
Can I take these while pregnant, nursing, or on medication?
Talk with your healthcare provider first, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, take blood thinners, or have an autoimmune condition. We publish the full ingredient list and third-party lab results for every batch, so you and your provider have what you need to decide.
